Middle school kids can change the world. No kidding, no exaggeration. I teach 7th and 8th grade social studies in Maine's most diverse school district. We're blessed with a wonderful balance of kids from Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia alongside kids whose families have lived in Maine for generations. Many of our children come from large families with very limited resources. Often the parent or guardian speaks little or no English.
