My students attend a large school in an urban area of California where poverty is high. Most of my students are English learners and Spanish is their first language. Many come from from single family homes or homes where both parents must work to support their families. Because parents work long hours and/or don't speak English, many students struggle to advance academically. Regardless of these difficulties, the children understand they have a brighter future if they achieve in school. They share a desire to improve and make their parents and community proud. They love to share anything new they learn with each other too. They're kind and respectful children who want to know more about the world around them. They just need the tools and support. Thank you for reading about our class and for considering making a donation.
