I am a Teach For America corps member in the Philadelphia region. Teach For America is an organization that recruits recent college graduates to teach in low-income settings. I teach kindergarten at a charter school in North Philadelphia. My charter school is a Title 1, district-funded school that serves students from kindergarten to eighth grade. I have twenty-one students in my classroom. Each student has come to my classroom with varying educational experiences. Some of my students have spent time in pre-kindergarten programs. However, many of my students have never been in a school environment before. As a result, my students require extra assistance in the classroom.
