Hi, I teach in a high-need community in The New York area. where the lack or resources are scarce. I teach 22 first grade students and for some this is their first time in a school setting. I would like to provide an opportunity for them to experience all if not most of the opportunities that we all have had while in school. The students have limited resources and to them any gift especially the gift of learning is valuable. My students don't have a social studies curriculum that can provide hands on and visual stimulation for them to learn. Instead we have one workbook where photocopies are run. It is impossible to teach them all I can with black and white copies. These students deserve to get as much out of school as they can. They are important and vital tools for our future. We can empower them with some resources to allow them to expand their minds and see the world in color. Every little bit counts.
