My students need 4 notebooks each for Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts. They take daily notes, do assignments, and homework. Most of the work is done in notebooks as loose sheets of paper would be easily lost and therefore not practical for later reference of class notes. These are needed to be able to complete assignments or study for tests. The whiteboards are for mini-lessons taught in all subject areas, especially reading and math facts practice. Whiteboards are a great tool to use throughout the day. Students become very excited when they do not have to always worry about turning in work but rather just practice the skills needed to do well in school.
