My students are amazing children who show up for school with a smile on their face and a thirst for learning. I am amazed everyday by these students. Even though school is extremely hard for them they have a 99% attendance record and try their best everyday. I have 4 students who are non-readers. These students are having a difficult time accessing all subjects because of their lack of reading. They live in a high poverty area and their parents do not speak english so they have to go to an after school program for help with their homework. I see the frustration on not only their faces but also their parents. I want these students to improve in their reading skills so that they will finally gain the confidence they are working so hard for.
