Kids love to read and reread Alexandra Day's amazing wordless book series with the character Carl, a lovable Rottweiler. My beginning readers and writers will tell the story of Carl by looking at the pictures and picking out important details. They will also use the sentence strips and pocket charts to label and sequence the story. Having a book set with reoccurring characters, beautiful illustrations, and hilarious encounters that kids will enjoy will keep them interested and coming back for more! The cool thing about a wordless book is that kids tell the story. They gain independence as readers. Early writers are compelled to write about the story because the words are their own.
