Scholastic News magazine and trade books about the election will inspire students to learn more about the upcoming election. We will learn about the voting process, the candidates, and even have a mock election! Many students know a lot about the election already because of what they hear, but having valuable resources from Scholastic will allow them to build, or refine their positions based on textual evidence and their own thinking! We will use shared reading and annotation to dig deep into the material so that the voters of 2024 are prepared in advance to make informed decisions. Having these books and magazines will also build students' own personal libraries. This rich work will allow us to practice our literacy skills while preparing for a civic responsibility just 8 short years away!
