I have a diverse mix of students; this diversity enriches our cultural and learning experiences in the classroom. Our school is a full inclusion facility which means that students of all abilities (gifted, special needs, typical developing) are grouped together in one learning environment. Services are then brought into the classroom, and it is the teacher's responsibility to differentiate learning to meet the needs of the diverse student population. This model of inclusive education has benefited our students. For example, the students begin to embrace and learn from one another's differences. Students develop lasting friendships with children they may not have had the chance to meet in a less inclusive setting. In this environment, students understand that we all learn differently, and we are able to get students to start recognizing how they learn best. Teachers at our school employ a variety of teaching methods (kinesthetic, hands-on, visual, verbal) to reach all learners.
