Biology is designed to be a laboratory science, but that is hard with no Science budget or means of raising money. I teach Inclusion Biology, Regular Biology and Honors Biology. Our community is very rural and many of my students will be the first in their family to attend college. Many of our families have been affected by the down-turn of the economy and local manufacturing jobs that have been lost.. As a teacher who loves her students and subject matter, I often sacrifice by spending my own money to buy supplies, but I cannot afford the big equipment. I would like to provide my students with laboratory experiences using equipment and supplies that they will use in college and the industry. I love being able to answer - "yes" to my students, when they ask -"Are we going to do a lab today?".
