Working in a high-poverty school can lead to amazing experiences, but it can also lead to many challenges. One of those challenges is that many of our students are below grade level in their reading abilities. Because of the limited and outdated selection of the guided reading books at our school, it's hard to get kids excited about reading. Having some new and exciting books to use during my guided reading groups would really go a long way in fostering enthusiasm for reading!
