My students are a diverse group of learners. We learn everyday in a small school within a large urban school district. I am implementing the reader's workshop model to teach reading. One component of the reader's workshop is to have students listen to books during independent reading time. Unfortunately, I do not have enough books on tape or CD to last the students throughout the year. Also, the audio device I have is very outdated and not inviting to my students. Students will enjoy having their own CD player and/or cassette player while sitting in a comfortable space around the room to listen and read their books.
