My students are from a lower socio-economic Central Florida community who need to develop more "background knowledge" in all subject areas. A pioneer school in our community, this public school serves a diverse population base. They are eager to learn, but many have not had the opportunity to travel to see and learn things many of us take for granted. This lack of background knowledge is an obstacle to their educational growth.
