My students will be working with their classes to plan and build a neighborhood community. This will take place over the course of a month, since I meet with classes once or twice a week for S.T.E.M. Before any actual building with the LEGO bricks and sets, classes are going to brainstorm what each neighborhood community needs to be safe and content. After the initial planning process, each class will eventually focus on building one aspect of the neighborhood. What they build will depend on their level of functioning. These individual projects will then be combined to form a whole neighborhood community. This way they are not only cooperating with their classmates, they are also working on a school-wide, inter-grade, collaborative effort.
