I teach students with special needs in a middle school in a large urban area in California. Our school is identified as school-wide Title I, as 89% of our 1400 students are low-income and qualify for free snack and lunch. The students in my classroom have mild to moderate learning disabilities, including auditory processing deficit, autism, developmental delays, attention deficit hyperactive disorders, and other health impairments. Despite their learning challenges, my students tend to have a positive attitude, and are always super excited to learn new things. Although my students are faced with these disabilities, they deserve an equal chance to receive an education. The document camera that I am requesting will help all of my students to learn more efficiently, especially those who suffer from short retention memory or lack of attention and focus.
