My students come from transient homes and low income families. They are mostly English Language Learners and lack many experiences that the average school aged child has. Many students do not have art materials in their homes and art class in school is there one time to be creative and experience many art forms. My students are eager to try new things and are very motivated by the arts. In fact I have 135 talented third graders just waiting for a chance to be an artist.
