My school is in a poor urban neighborhood in California. All students at my school qualify for free lunch due to their low economic status. I have 21 students in my third grade class. 20 are of Latino descent and 1 is Caucasian. 15 of the 21 are English Language Learners (English is their second language). My students love working in groups. In general, they love math, science, and art. Reading and grammar are areas of concern for the majority of the class. They like to write stories and their stories are very creative. My third-graders are very energetic and eager to learn. That being said, sometimes they have too much energy and have trouble staying on task.
