Our TK classroom has recently received Ipads. Technology is an essential tool in today's society but I want to be sure my students are having access to interactive programs rather than additional 'screen time'. Osmo is one program which has made me excited about the possibilities for young children and technology. When I saw how students use tangible materials to interact with an app, I instantly saw the benefit for all my students to learn and engage with one another. This program is unique where children can use manipulatives such as letters, numbers and shapes to create designs, manipulate numbers, interact with letters to learn about sounds, develop stronger phonemic awareness and so much more. The drawing aspect of this program brings pictures and shapes to life, making technology even more exciting and engaging. What has drawn me towards this program specifically, are the positive opportunities for social interactions. Children can work with one another to play games, draw pictures and learn about letters and numbers. Learning is not a solitary activity. The best teachers are the peers children have around them. Any amount of help towards this project would be greatly appreciated and would benefit current and future students create a solid foundation to be life long learners.
