These books are absolute favorites in my second grade classroom. \r\nI have my classroom library organized by book series or genre. Each of these books have their own bin for the series. The bins with these books are usually close to empty because they are so popular. It can almost guarantee that every student's book bin has at least one of these books in it. \r\nThese books– Dog Man, Magic Treehouse, I Survived, and The Bad Guys are supporting my students' love of reading. These books– Mercy Watson, Owl Diaries, Poppleton, and Frog and Toad are currently living in either my classroom library or in students' individual book bins. \r\nWhen my students first saw our class library, they were so excited! I know that these specific books were a huge part of that excitement. They are books that are intriguing to second graders and at a variety of levels.\r\nThe students have a specific day to go \"book shopping\" and pick out books. They are always so excited for their book shopping day. \r\nThese books are also helpful for me when a student is having a hard time picking out a book that they are interested in that is at a \"just right\" level for them. These books are engaging and include a wide range of reading levels. Between Mercy Watson, Owl Diaries, Poppleton, and Frog and Toad, I can successfully recommend books to children that they are interested in and are at their level. Also, because they are series books, the students can read more of them once they are finished. \r\nIn addition to these books being available for individual students, I will also include these as options for our class read aloud after lunch. I will include all of these books as options for students to vote on for our next read aloud. \r\nThank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1752018717148,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-reads-for-curious-kids/9436979/","projectTitle":"Cozy Reads for Curious Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haarberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10064885_orig.png?crop=828,827,x0,y483&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751041597538","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10064885"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39667","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":484,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":56,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"26.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":87.8,"schoolId":39667,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Conrad L Smith Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Conrad L Smith Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-luis-coastal-unified-school-district/conrad-l-smith-elementary-school/39667"}
