We use technology for many different things in the classroom--namely reading instruction, math intervention and instructional videos. However, often this amounts to students being passive consumers of technology. Last year was the first time I had students complaining, "I don't want the computer, I'm bored with this program." In a world that is increasingly replacing low skill jobs with automation, it is creative skills that are key to success. I want to show my students how technology can be used to harness their creativity. I want to enable them to make new connections and bring their creations to reality. iPads would allow my students to use stop animation and short films to tell the stories that are important to them. I know you have many options in choosing where to invest your money, but I would ask you to consider this project, which offers my students the ability to know the true value of technology--that it can offer them the chance to be creative and develop essential skills for their future! Thank you!
