I teach 4th grade in a high poverty Title I school. My students come from all over the world. We currently have 24 languages represented in our building. Many of these children come from war-torn countries or refugee camps, but some are children of immigrants and were born in the USA. The thing they all have in common is a great need for a good education in order to build a better life for themselves and become productive citizens of our country.
