My students are Emotionally Disturbed Special Education children. They are in a class size of 12 students ,1 teacher and 1 paraprofessional. They are mostly from East Harlem. Although they are currently in the seventh grade, most are reading well below grade level. Difficulty in reading has inhibited their self-esteem to try new endeavors. They have difficulty doing math because they are unable to read the questions. There are some that would like to read more, but the books they may want read are not always available in the library. They enjoy using new technology; therefore a Nook would be a library in the palm of their hands.
