Most of my students come from low income homes where they do not have access to quality literature and some of them do not have anyone at home who can read to them on a regular basis. Due to these circumstances my kids have not had the opportunity to hear someone read aloud to them every day so they can be exposed to the number of books they need to hear in order to become fluent and life-long readers themselves.
