River Bend Area Learning Center provides an alternative educational setting for at risk 7-12th graders. The students are at risk of not graduating. I like to say that each student has a story. Eligibility requirements include: Performing substantially below the performance level for pupils of the same age, be at least one year behind in their course work or credits for graduation, withdrawn from school or has been chronically truant, a student parent or pregnant, assessed as chemically dependent, a victim of physical or sexual abuse, experienced mental health problems, experienced homelessness within the last six months, expelled or excluded from a school district, speak English as a second language or has limited English proficiency. Some people say, "We are giving these hard working student a second chance.
