I am a 7th grade math teacher in a middle school, which is located in Lower Manhattan. Most of our students are from low-income families. Our school has divided into three academies. I am under the Academy of Community and Technology. Our curriculum should be allied with the theme of the academy. Students could choose electives under their academy. I am teaching an elective that is called Community Environment and Services to a ESL class.
