I teach beginning English as a second language to high school students in Boston. My school is in an area where 80%+ of the residents are considered impoverished. My school is 100% English language learners. My students, though they speak very limited English for the most part, are incredibly motivated to learn English and realize the American Dream by going to college and having a productive and meaningful lives in the USA. They are motivated by technology and the excitement and opportunity it provides them to enrich their education and language learning.
