My students come from high poverty backgrounds, the great majority of students at my school qualify for free lunch. Many of my students are also English language learners. Yet, students come to school with a smile on their face and ready to learn as much as they can! Many of my students also face a variety of social issues in their homes which makes it even more important that I give my students a strong foundation in reading, a foundation that will hopefully lead them on a path towards college and a way out of poverty. My students love books but many have entered reading below grade level and will need my dedication and resources to reach grade level. Most of my students don't have books to read at home or technology/basic internet service to be able to log onto online reading intervention programs. I am committed to do everything I can to help all of my students become fluent readers!!
