Every year I teach 6-8 grade students ELA. I also impart mindfulness into the classroom. Each morning students need to give me their affirmation as they walk in the class which helps to kick the day off positively. We start the week with Mindful Mondays, so students begin with clarity & focus. This can be done through yoga & mediation. Students come into my classroom regularly hungry. No one can learn if they’re hungry and I try and provide snacks for them. Throughout the day my students need fidgets to help them regulate and continue with their lessons. I also run a free Mindful Movers Club after school. It is in these daily moments I show students the strategies & tools they can use to help themselves both in & out of the classroom.
