My students reside in Roseville, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. My school has a high poverty rate. Families in this area have been hard hit by the economic situation. Many families cannot afford to provide basic needs for their families. I teach students with Cognitive Impairments. Besides facing challenges financially my students face the difficulties of dealing with their disabilities as well. I have 17 students in my class ranging from fourth grade to sixth grade.
