My students live in a poverty-stricken area of Ohio and face innumerable challenges on a daily basis. For many of them, school is their favorite place to be. Some of their hardships are hard for me to even understand. The needs of my students range from regular one-on-one attention to finding challenging material even above grade level. The desire to learn is so evident in my high-spirited, enthusiastic students. In order to keep this drive in continuous motion and acceleration, I work hard to make school as enjoyable as possible, and I set high expectations for each of these unique individuals I get to work with each day. There are also two other first grade classes (those teachers and I share materials)that will utilize these sorts, providing the same benefits for those additional students as well.
