Our students at Six mile Charter Academy are motivated to learn! The students at the school are a great mix from many diverse backgrounds. About 60 percent of students are receiving reduced or free lunches. There are many needs. Some come from broken homes, while others have experienced recent loss. There are those who have potential talents just ready to be unlocked by those who are willing to help. The school has a very limited supply of musical instruments. In fact the last 2 previous years the school did not have a certified music teacher. The students did not receive standard based music instruction. The also did not have the opportunity to participate in project based learning and work with musical instruments . So with that said, the students are far behind in music. Nevertheless there are musicians waiting to be discovered in there midst.
