My students are a vibrant, high-energy community that keeps me on my toes and constantly inspires my teaching. They are made up of a plethora of cultures and languages; on any given day, you’ll hear a mix of English and various home languages echoing through the halls. They are incredibly resilient, but they also carry a lot on their young shoulders. Many of my kids come from hardworking families navigating the realities of being in a Title I district, which means they might deal with things like food insecurity or moving frequently. Because of these outside stressors, they don't just need a teacher; they need a safe, predictable space where they feel seen and supported.
