Our special needs preschoolers are curious, observant, and eager to engage with the world around them, even when they have difficulty expressing themselves. They communicate through gestures, sounds, pictures, or emerging words, while others are developing expressive and receptive language at a different pace. Their attempts to connect with us through eye contact, shared play, imitation, or simple requests are very meaningful indicators of learning and intent. These students have many abilities, and we are helping them bring individuality, personality, and potential into the classroom. With nurturing relationships, early intervention, and developmentally appropriate support, they make meaningful progress at their own pace. Let's recognize their abilities, honor their differences, and support their journey toward communication, independence, and social connection. I believe in the power of incremental progress!
