I teach 10 incredible students in grades 3–5 in a multiple disabilities classroom, including 3 girls and 7 boys. My students have cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, and other developmental challenges. Each child works toward individualized goals and learns at his or her own pace. In reading, some students are identifying letters and letter sounds, while others are working on word families and early fluency skills. In math, we are learning real-life skills like telling time, counting money, and understanding number families. We also focus daily on communication, social skills, and independence. My students are hardworking, determined, and full of potential.
