My students belong to a highly-diversified community. My school serves a population of almost 3,000 high school students. The current graduation rate is almost 80%, which is about 15% less than the state average. However, the graduation rate has been steadily increasing over the past few years with help from programs such as GEARUP and work with education consultants. Over 17% of the school community have been identified as "students with disabilities, with an additional 16% identified as having "limited English proficiency." One unique aspect of the school is that over 80% of our students consider Spanish to be their first language. A majority of our students' families have very limited English proficiency. Only 10% of our 11th and 12th graders are enrolled in an Advanced Placement course, which is half of the state average. The school has a dropout rate that is over three times the state average. Of the graduating seniors, less than 14% attend a four-year college.
