My students mainly live in Spanish Harlem with several commuting from the Bronx. They have culturally diverse backgrounds which makes for a vibrant school culture. They attend this school because they can "major" in visual arts, drama or music. They are an active, creative, energetic crew with all of the challenging behaviors as well as all of the joy and great spirt of middle schoolers everywhere. I want to make sure they feel good about themselves and comfortable at school. We all have days when we feel overwhelmed and I want to create a space that helps them re-energize and return to enjoying school.

About my class
