We have 8 iPad Minis that we share with a classroom for English Language Learners. Our classroom is for students with learning differences such as Dyslexia and Autism. There are amazing Assistive Technology apps that can support our learning. There are speech-to-text apps, text readers and writing supports available that will increase my students' capabilities in the classroom and help them work around their challenges.
The tools we are requesting will take learning beyond the walls of our class. Cases will protect the iPads so we can use them in the library, other classrooms and even outside. The headphones will allow students to use the speech-to-text apps to assist with spelling and writing on projects and assignments. Students can also use the headphones to practice their reading fluency by recording and listening to themselves which will allow them to monitor their own progress. Our students also want to be able to communicate with other classes around the world through Skype or Google Hangouts as well as to create videos and record books. The tripods will allow them to move around and be as active as possible in their learning.
