My students come from all walks of life. Some are future engineers, while others aren’t sure college is for them--but they’re curious, capable, and hungry to build something real. Whether they’re planning to pursue mechanical engineering or pick up a trade, they all benefit from hands-on experience and access to tools that build both confidence and skill. We’re a Title I school, with nearly 80% of students coming from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of them haven’t had access to tools, tech, or makerspaces outside of school. That’s what makes this program so important. For some, it’s their first time using a 3D printer or CNC machine. For others, it’s the moment where everything clicks and they realize, “I could do this for a living.” Every student I teach deserves a chance to make, learn, and grow in a space that believes in them. This project helps make that possible.
