We are a very diverse group of students from around the world. In our classroom this year, we speak Tagalog, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Spanish, Arabic, and English. Ours is a rich community filled with kindness and support. It is a high-poverty area with more than half of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Many families work multiple jobs to support immediate and extended relatives. We love to sing, dance, share, and learn. Many of our students do not have any access to technology and will be at a great disadvantage in the future. For the past few years, our school has been without a working computer lab. We need iPad minis to engage students and give them meaningful practice while I work with small groups.
