My students are an outstanding group of diverse individuals who come together from various walks of life. Many of the students in our rural community come from less than ideal situations, but still make it a point to show up to school everyday because that is where they feel the best and the most successful. The school itself is full of engaged teaches trying to make an impact in the lives of these students everyday. Our school is located in one of the poorest counties in the nation and we receive minimal funding for classroom supplies. This makes it especially difficult in our science classroom to fund larger purchases of non-consumable instruments and items as we go through many consumable materials throughout the year to meet the needs of our 85-100 6th grade students. Our students deserve to use good equipment to get the most from our class time together, and so they may be able to have a strong foundation on which to build their future educational experiences.
