My students are outgoing and energetic. They work very hard and love science and social studies. My students are varied in their reading abilities. My lowest readers are reading at a 3rd grade level and my highest readers are reading at an 8th grade level. The key to their reading success is having adequate access to reading material that is relevant and interesting. Students can read information from their science and social studies books, but they don't go as deep as some students would like. My students are always searching my classroom library for books that are related to what we are studying in science and social studies. I have little to offer them when it comes to informational text.
