There are 33 students assigned to my classroom. My students live in a high poverty area. Many of my students have never traveled further than a 20 mile radius from their homes. They face many challenges, not all academic. Our school is a Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School with a mandatory uniform policy. They are expected to maintain high academic standards along with participating in the Arts (music, art, and drama). These added opportunities allow them many more positive experiences that they would not normally get.

About my class
