I work at a school that primarily serves Black students, with our young leaders ranging from three to five years old. Our school is dedicated to helping young Black children build the confidence, knowledge, and skills they need to be successful in life. We focus on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), introducing our students to their history, legacy, and the opportunities they represent. My classroom is called Clark Atlanta, and I have the privilege of working with a wonderful group of young leaders. It is truly rewarding to watch them learn and grow each day. Being a consistent and positive presence in their lives is something I value deeply. At such a young age, they learn not only from what we teach them, but also from how we treat them. Knowing that I can help my students feel seen, valued, loved, and confident is one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher.
