My students are located in the larger Los Angeles area. The school they attend is a larger school made up of smaller schools with about 500 students each. A good percentage of our students are on free and reduced lunch and will be first generation college students when they graduate. I will have approximately 40-45 students in each of my 4 beginning art classes. For many of my students this is their first art class due to the lack of opportunities in their pre-schooling experience. The school year is about to begin and I can tell that my students are eager to learn video art as a way to share their opinion, interest, and dreams for their themselves and community. As of now the course is designed to give students the opportunity to produce rather then just consume the digital world around them.
