My students are mostly from low income families and participate in the free or reduced lunch program. Our building is one of the oldest in our school district. My classroom should ideally hold about 15-18 students, allowing for areas for centers and other activities. In reality though, I have 25 students with 2 special education students joining us at different times. This makes it difficult for me to move among the students effectively to ensure that all students are engaged and understand the concepts being taught. When students can't see what's going on due to overcrowded conditions, they tend to lose interest. For the most part, these conditions do not dampen their enthusiasm for learning. They are eager to learn and experience new things.
