I love teaching in California! My students have extremely diverse backgrounds and circumstances. They are hard working, dedicated, and talented young people and make it a pleasure for me to mold them into musicians. Even though our school is not in a wealthy community, we have won multiple awards both in the music and arts department. The music program is growing each year and includes the following classes: string orchestra, symphonic orchestra, jazz band, concert band, marching band, AP music theory, chamber music class, color guard, and drum line. Most of the students who join the department stick with it for all four years and many times enroll in more than one music class each year. Right now, our symphonic orchestra is in the running to be able to perform at the Disney Concert Hall. Because of the time the kids put into the program, it functions as a second family for many.
