My class consists of 21 first grade students between the ages of six and seven. They come from various cultural backgrounds and have varying learning experiences. They have come to realize the importance of reading with expression, and are all anxious to become better, more fluent readers. We are a Title I school, located in an urban area. We are a primary school, serving child development, Kindergarten, and first grade students. One of the big components of our curriculum is building fluency. Our school continues to grow and grow, and there are just not enough resources to accommodate this growth. As a result, not every classroom is equipped with a listening station. Our students will greatly benefit from a listening center to aid them in becoming better readers.
