My inquisitive kindergartners are constantly asking me questions about the world around them. I answer their questions verbally, by drawing pictures, and sometimes with a short video but nothing can really compare to visual aids and real objects for students to see and touch. All of my students come from low-income families and they often lack the background knowledge to understand explanations without these additional aids. In order for my students to become more knowledgeable and successful students, a broader vocabulary and understanding of the world is necessary. Science is a wonderful way to help students develop vocabulary and stimulate their natural desire to learn.
