The Overdeck Family Foundation and Simons Foundation believe the skills young people develop doing math and sciences – critical thinking, problem solving, experimentation, and more – are incredibly valuable in all aspects of life.
Five teachers who submit the most innovative Science Everywhere ideas will each earn $5,000 in DonorsChoose.org credits. The six national judge leaders of the program are:
Victor Cruz, wide receiver for the New York Giant and founder of the Victor Cruz Foundation
Leland Melvin, professional football player-turned NASA astronaut
"Science Bob" Pflugfelder, teacher and presenter of creative science experiments as a regular guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Leslie Vosshall, neuroscientist and member of the National Academy of the Sciences
Laura Overdeck, chair of the Overdeck Family Foundation and founder of Bedtime Math
Marilyn Simons, president of the Simons Foundation
The six Science Ambassador teachers helping to judge the submissions come from schools nationwide:
Amani Abuhabsah, Dawes Elementary School in Chicago, IL
Angela Bergman, Westside High School in Omaha, NE
Lisa Frank, Livingston Elementary School in Columbus, OH
Patrick Honner, Brooklyn Technical High School in New York, NY
Barbara Rice, Prince Edward County Middle School in Farmville, VA
