My students entered a lottery to get into our charter school because their parents want a better chance for them, but can't afford private school. We offer a college prep curriculum and students work hard to achieve some of the highest test scores in our district sitting in second hand desks. There is no cafeteria, which means most students eat lunch outside, and I think the fresh air is good for them. Diversity is the norm for our student population, so the school has a naturally inclusive atmosphere. I have 8 years of teaching experience, but this is my first year at this school. I am so excited to be here. My colleagues inspire me and the kids are nice even though they don't all have an ideal home life. My administrators are champions at school improvement and I see myself here for a long time.
